It means a lot that I am starting this journey with the support of so many. I see a great opportunity on the path in front of me to learn from those that have come before me and from the many I will be serving. I truly feel leadership cannot be taught, only learned. You cannot read a book and be an expert, you have to apply the knowledge and learn from the experience of guiding others.
When someone is truly a leader, they work to help others discover and implement things that can improve their lives, they become teachers, friends, and confidants. Helping someone see a vision of themselves they didn’t see before or notice a road with new possibilities, is an honor and a goal every leader should work towards. I hope to be that to an least one individual this year.
I have been asked on occasion “Why Women’s Council?” My answer, it has changed me. I truly feel that being a part of an organization built on supporting others, that focuses on education, mentoring, and finding one’s best self, is the best possible place we should be. I have grown in ways I never expected, and discovered a confidence I didn’t know I had. I am a stronger, better person in my personal life and business dealings, because of what I have learned from those who are leading me.
It truly is an honor to be among the ranks of this great leadership. I look forward to showing all of you what I can offer and hope I can look back in a year and know, I held my head high, lead with integrity and made an positive impact on our organization.
