Leadership Academy Offers Officer Training and Much More
In 2002, as president-elect for my local Dekalb Chapter in the Atlanta area, I was responsible for attending Women's Council's annual Leadership Academy in Chicago.
I had not been a member for very long and was not at all sure what to expect from this event. I packed my bags and got on the plane, and my life has not been the same since!
I can say unequivocally that Leadership Academy is one of the best experiences I’ve had as a member – both as an attendee and, in the past several years, as I was honored to serve on the faculty.
I made life-long friends from all over the country at the first event, and I truly came to understand the "Big Picture" and the importance of the chapter’s functionality and structure as they relate to delivering member value.
We have consistently received accolades for our Leadership Academy from both in and outside the industry. The model has been emulated in local and state associations across the country, and we are proud of the recognition we have received.
The curriculum has been expanded over the years, and we now include state presidents and regional vice presidents in addition to the local chapter presidents. This full-circle training has led to more consistent messaging and programming across the country.
Our faculty has been working hard to develop powerful and exciting modules for the incoming 2014 leaders who will gather soon in Chicago. They have been trained together in the team teaching methodology that is always so impactful, and I know they are just as excited as the new leaders to be a part of this year's Academy.
So if you are planning on coming to Academy this year, get ready for an amazing weekend. Your fellow members applaud you for making the commitment to the success of the chapter in 2014, and they will be waiting for you to bring home the exciting tools and ideas that will spell success for every member – every chapter.
We look forward to seeing you soon in Chicago.
