Women's Council: 2014 and Beyond
This year, I've had the opportunity to travel around the country visiting local and state chapters, as well as attending a few regional meetings, and it has been both an honor and a learning experience. While visiting these members, I have been able to sit and talk with local and state leaders about where they see Women's Council going over the next several years and how we can all participate in making the Council the best it can be. Many of these conversations have come full circle and contributed to our new Strategic Framework.
Sometimes it was just a way for the local members to understand the national connection and know that at the heart of the organization we are all members experiencing the same benefits of this great organization. The best part about being a Women's Council member is that you don't have to be the national president to be the recipient of these great treasures. As a member, I get to attend my local chapter business resource meetings that bring to me the latest tools and information for my marketplace and my overall business. When I travel, I can attend meetings and tap the resources of the chapters around the country, which I have been doing for years.
Even sitting in front of my computer, I can participate in webinars, access a national referral base and download tools that help in my daily business. My membership is the greatest single investment I make in real estate.
One of the greatest of these benefits has been the relationships I have developed over the years, both professionally and personally. I have sent and received referrals from around the country, I have roomed with women who I met because of Women's Council and I have friends that I find myself talking to for hours no matter how late it is in Maryland (and not so late in California). Conversations with these friends range from market activity in our own areas, to having business accountability partners, to sending prayers for those in our families who need them.
I have been blessed many times in my life: first with a large loving family, next with close friendships that have lasted a lifetime and finally to take part in an industry I love. Women's Council has played a huge role in making that happen, and I hope it has for you, too.
I know that as we welcome the 2014 National Leadership team we will continue to have the support and knowledge that it takes to lead us toward another 75 years of growth and success. Thank you for allowing me to serve as your national president this year. It has been an honor.
