Recently, hundreds of Women's Council members from across the country descended upon Washington, D.C., to educate and influence their Congressional representatives on important REALTOR® initiatives, while taking the opportunity to educate themselves at our annual midyear conference.
The REALTORS® Legislative Meetings & Trade Expo, which took place May 14 to 16, featured an array of speakers and topics, including business-boosting technology classes, marketing and branding sessions, trend tracking, innovative network leveraging and programs on developing/operating within the referral mindset.
Members were given new marketing and branding ideas during "A Geeky Girls Guide to Building Your Online Brand" with Melissa Case and Laurie Weston Davis, and they were asked to think and step outside the box during "Not Your Mamma's Networking" with Robbie Fenn.
Video marketing was once again a hot topic with a session led by Nobu Hata. On that note, Women's Council staff even provided a "studio" to film leadership testimonials and more video content, scheduled to appear on Facebook and WCR.org in the coming weeks.
"Hyper-local market specialist" was the new buzz within the conference halls, after a great presentation by Joseph Rand, which reminded us that the personalized client experience is something the big data sites can never offer. The message was loud and clear: focusing on client-centric marketing versus agent-centric marketing is more important than ever.
The Ignite Learning Series featured Women’s Council leaders from across the country, firing up members about dynamic programming, increasing your virtual footprint, trends, conflict resolution and boosting your business plan, just to name a few. Attendees had several amazing sessions to choose from in D.C.
On the last day of the conference, National President Sindy Ready surprised attendees with a drawing for an Apple iWatch and a National Conference registration and four-night hotel package for San Diego.
As always, Women's Council delivered in D.C. with networking and education that is always top notch and touching on the pulse of industry trends. As member Cindy Callais put it, "Just when I think I have attended the best conference ever, an even better conference comes along. Thank you and your leadership team for listening to the needs of our members. Our Louisiana leadership is ready to share all that they learned to bring our members even more value."
Thank you to all who attended, and a big thanks to all of our amazing speakers, sponsors and support staff. We look forward to seeing all of you in San Diego. WCR rocks!
