Chapter Highlight: Fort Bend Chapter, TX
Women's Council Fort Bend Chapter experienced many great successes in 2015. First, Fort Bend won 3rd place in the large chapter category for recruitment in the National Recruitment and Retention Contest. Then, Fort Bend grew to achieve Mega Chapter Status. Last, National selected three of Fort Bend's chapter programs as Excellence in Programming award winners and Texas State acknowledged Fort Bend as State Chapter of the Year.
These successes were achieved through teamwork with the Fort Bend Governing Board working in sync every step of the way. As the year was planned, all positions involved were able to brainstorm, provide input and vote on decisions made. This was important to 2015 President, Christina Daw. Daw feels great things can be accomplished as a team. The more input, the more the diversity of the chapter and its members can be represented.
The Membership Committee worked together to 'touch' each guest 5 times. Once that guest joined, those touches continued through phone calls, emails, personal notes and coffee dates. The Vice President of Membership, Membership Committee and Local Chapter President would each reach out to the new member to encourage them to attend chapter functions and become further involved. This momentum and level of involvement continued in 2016, as the chapter won 2nd place for Recruitment in the Mega Chapter Category.
WCR Fort Bend's success in programming was due to teamwork also. Several of the 2015 line officers spent 2014 gathering ideas from State and National educational programs and decided their strategy would be "pushing the envelope" and finding edgy programs that REALTORS® wouldn't be exposed to at their brokerage, title company CE's or the local association. The programs that were recognized were: "Meth, Mold and Marijuana- What They Mean for Your Transaction"; "The Double D’s- Death and Divorce"; and "Negotiating Common Conflict." These topics were controversial and brought many guests, as well as members to the meetings. Many were just curious as to how the chapter would pull these topics off. Each of these programs were beneficial to REALTORS® and their business.
The Chapter's successes aren't limited to the tangible awards received at the National and State levels, however. Each meeting, CE Class, Membership mixer and fundraiser was successful because of the great team spirit WCR Fort Bend embodies.
