Zillow? Love It or Hate It - It's Here to Stay
Let’s face the facts - Zillow is the #1 Real Estate website. Period. It gets more unique visitors per day than anywhere else according to ebizmba.com, and #2 isn’t even close. Now, before we get into a debate of how it’s ruining your life, let’s talk about it.
Accept It. Whether you are a fan or not, as a REALTOR®, it is imperative that one accepts that Zillow is out there. It’s going nowhere, other than growing.
Adapt & Embrace. I am not asking you to wear an ‘I love Zillow’ shirt. But your clients - OUR clients use Zillow. We need to go where our clients go. Download the app to your phone, and learn how it works. Understand why every address under the sun is on there. Do not get mad at your clients for believing in Zestimates - that is where we, the Real Estate Superheroes, come in to save the day. We have our expert knowledge on why a mathematical algorithm cannot replace an actual REALTOR®, who considers condition, specific location, and the current market.
Set Up Your Profile. You never have to give Zillow a dime. But setting up your profile is FREE & it is the #1 website! You can also request client reviews.
Use Zillow for the Greater Good. When on a competitive listing appointment, I often say, “Feel free to compare me on Zillow to any other agent you are considering." I know that Zillow checks IP addresses, and therefore, these are actual client reviews, which can benefit you. I received 3 referrals from agents out of state last year, solely based on my Zillow profile.
Do I pay Zillow? Yes, I do. Though, I hope to continue to lower my spend annually, as I have been doing….but I get the vast majority of my return on investment on Zillow for free - set up your profile, and understand how the website works - it will help you to understand your clients better. At Women's Council, we know that knowledge is power.
I do not work for Zillow & I am sick of paying them :)
