Get a Return on Your Dues Investment at the Saving Center
When’s the last time you’ve looked at the list of products and services available to you at discounted prices through the Women’s Council of REALTORS® Saving Center? If it’s been a while — it’s time to see what’s new.
The Council’s Saving Center now combines business tools and travel/entertainment benefits into a single platform, making it easy to browse the complete offering of discounted services. Looking to save on prescriptions? How about office supplies, FedEx® or accounting services? The Saving Center offers these services and others, including a cash-back program available at more than 1,200 stores when you purchase through the online Rewards Mall.
“Our goal for the Saving Center is to help our members get the greatest return on their dues investment possible,” said Council CEO Jeff Hornberger. “Those who use the service find it pretty easy to recoup their $126 national dues investment, simply by purchasing products and services through the Saving Center — the same products and services they are already buying.”
Members aren’t the only ones using the benefits. You can extend the benefits to clients and customers. For example, if you have an out-of-town client who needs a hotel room, they can use the platform to save on more than 100,000 hotels around the world. Or, think about shopping for a closing gift or purchasing a gift card for your client through the online mall.
Travel & Entertainment popular with Council members
While a few of the discounted services offered overlap the REALTOR® association’s benefit program, many are unique, including the travel and entertainment options, which are among the most popular with Women’s Council members, according to the platform managers. Entertainment options include movies, theme parks, Las Vegas and Broadway shows and other events. The Saving Center also offers “preferred access” for national touring concerts, sporting and other events.
Along with clients and customers, Council staff can use the benefits. Cindy Newkirk, Manager for Meetings & Special Events, took advantage of the discounts and saved significantly when buying tickets for a girlfriends’ get-away weekend to New York to see the hit musical “Waitress.”
“I checked all the online tickets sites and no one offered a better deal than the Council’s Saving Center,” said Cindy. “We saved about 10 percent per ticket, which added up to around $75 for our group of eight, and got amazing seats.” Discounts and seating options vary based on the venue.
Office Depot program to be expanded
Among the discounts on business products and services, the program with Office Depot is one of the best-used. 2016 National President Melissa Zimbelman is a big fan of the office supply store program. “I find the Council’s program to be better than the in-store rewards program and the prices drastically better.”
In addition to discounted prices on supplies and copy services, members who register for the Office Depot program are eligible to receive free products. Melissa recently purchased Post-It® Notes and then received a free secondary product. “There are times where you need it right away and need to go to a retail store, but the convenience of online ordering is great,” said Melissa.
There’s good news for Melissa and others who use the office supply discount benefit. In January, Council members will receive a mailer with an Office Depot Saving Center card that will allow them to get the same discount available online for in-store purchases. Whether ordering online or, soon, purchasing at a retail outlet, data from Office Depot shows that a typical order for a first purchase can save a real estate office $110 — nearly the amount of your annual national dues.
Register today and save
Registration at the Saving Center is free, quick and easy. All you need is an email address and password. Then you choose the products and services that interest you. Once you’ve signed up with a supplier, you deal directly with that company.
Melissa and Cindy are great examples of why it’s worth the short time it takes to register and browse the site. But as Melissa noted, the hard part isn’t registering or using the site. “It’s remembering to use the benefits available to us.”
The Council is trying to help members do just that. “We want the Saving Center to be the first place members think to go when they need business tools or personal services,” said Jeff Hornberger. “In doing so, members can really maximize their return on the investment.”
