Let Women's Council Help You Grow in 2018

by Jo Ann Stevens, 2018 National President

HappynewyearHappy New Year!

I like to start off the New Year with a fresh slate, new goals, and an overarching vision of the year. Especially a year as big as this one! As your National President, I am looking forward to a busy year with Council business, and one of my goals is to make sure you are getting your full member benefits. One of the best ways I can show you this is by highlighting a member benefit to check out each month. That means each month, I want you to log into WCR.org and look at the benefit for that month. Update information, dig into our website and use the tools that National Staff has created for you.

January: Is your member profile up to date? According to the recent Women's Council survey, 54 percent of members made one or more referrals to another member in the past year. You don't want to miss an opportunity for a referral because your information is out of date. Take a minute, log-in to your Member Expertise Profile and make sure everything is correct. Include your designations, hobbies, specialties, areas you serve, and add a current photo. The more information you fill in, the more likely you are to get a referral.

February: eConnect. Did you receive our Women's Council eConnect? Our e-newsletter is sent monthly to all Council members and is available online at your convenience. We have established writers who touch on leadership, productivity, business & video tips for real estate and more. This is also a fantastic place to get your latest Council news and happenings.

March: Attend a local Network meeting. There are over 1,500 activities that our networks organize annually across the country. Network meetings at the local level are designed to have interactive networking and timely education, all in a friendly environment of your peers. It is never easy to take time out of our busy schedules and step out of our comfort zone, but I encourage you to do so. Plus, you never know when I might be attending!

April: Our Designation (and Courses). Women’s Council has a designation, called the PMN Logo Transparent CirclePerformance Management Network (PMN) Designation. This business leadership designation offers a variety of courses in topics such as leadership, running a business, negotiation, and now new Pop-up Courses (sign up for our Pop-up course in Washington, D.C). Now is the time to begin the coursework so that you can apply for the designation and earn your pin at one of our national meetings. If you already have the PMN, then enjoy the benefits it brings, such as a private Facebook networking group, exclusive reception at national meetings, deeply discounted banner ads, and free webinars.

May: Women's Council Midyear Meetings. Now is the time to go to a national meeting and network with colleagues from around the country! The Women’s Council Midyear Meeting in May is held in conjunction with the NAR Legislative meetings in Washington, D.C. You will find a friendly and welcoming environment, with high-energy events and top-notch education. I hope to see you in D.C.

2018NationalleaderbadgeJune: Show off your badge. Last year Women's Council initiated a digital badging program to show off your achievements on social media and in your email signature. How many have you earned? Post one today. We have badges for all National, State & Local Leaders, PMN Designees, and for attending each national meeting. Do you have a suggestion for a badge? Let us know! We are always looking for creative ways that we can promote your achievements within Women's Council.

July: Invest in a banner ad. Are you getting any referrals yet? If not, set yourself apart from the crowd and purchase a banner ad so that your name is more visible in the referral directory. For only $200 annually, you can advertise yourself in up to six cities, with a custom ad that appears in our Member Directory on WCR.org (Find a Member). If you are a PMN, then a year-long banner ad is only $140. Make yourself more visible on our Women's Council Website today!

August: Volunteer. We’d be honored to have your time and talent supporting your Local or State Network. Too busy to become an elected officer? There are many project teams and other opportunities with less commitment if you’d like. The volunteerism of Women’s Council sets us apart from other leadership training programs.

September: Connect with us on social media. We highlight leaders and influencers in ourFB Thumb 80-year history, give business tips, and have fun posts designed to motivate you on our social media pages. This is a great place to connect with members across the country.

October: Use WCR.org. Our Website has a wide array of tools that you can dig into at any time. Need a referral? Use Find a Member. Looking for a previously published Webinar on technology? Peek in the archives. Scripting a meeting? Check out Network Tools. Want to show off your Council Pride on Facebook? Download a cover image from our marketing materials. If you need anything Council related, it's probably on our Website. If not, give our helpful staff a call, and they can assist you with whatever you're searching for.

November: Attend the Women’s Council National Conference. Our National Conference will be in Boston for 2018! We will have 5 days of education, networking, and leadership training for new Network leaders. Plus we'll be installing our 2019 National President, Heather Ozur & the Officer Team. We've not held a conference in Boston in a long time, so this is sure to be an exciting event!

December: Women’s Council Savings Center. The Savings Center offers discounts on premium and exclusive products and services for Council members. We've negotiated “members only” discounts on your behalf with suppliers who recognize the purchasing power of our membership. Take advantage of discounts on hotels, entertainment, office supplies, online retail and so much more.

These 12 benefits are just the start, Women's Council offers so much more for you. I hope you find the intangible benefits and the camaraderie across the Council priceless. Much of our value comes from our members. We are supportive and inclusive and we have so much knowledge to offer one another.

I am looking forward to an exciting 2018, and I'm so honored to be your President!
