President’s Message

Step Up, Step In

Those of you who attended the Holiday Breakfast this year already know what “Step Up, Step In” means.  For those of you who were unable to attend, it is quite simple: Get Involved.  Whether you are a woman, or a man who supports women in leadership, now is the time to make a difference.

There are many ways you can get involved with The Women’s Council of REALTORS, and we hope that you do.  However, we encourage participating in our industry and in our community, whether it is with The Greater Rochester Association of REALTORS, the REALTORS Political Action Committee or with any number of boards and organizations within our community.

Real Estate can be a very isolating profession—most often, we function from our mobile offices.  While this is extremely convenient, it deprives us of the larger vision of our industry and women’s contribution to it.  There are also issues constantly threatening our profession; it is important to stay informed about what those issues are and what you can do about them.

One thing I know for certain: we need more women in leadership positions.  Having had the opportunity to attend national conferences, I see the larger vision of women fighting to make a difference, to make their voices heard, to mentor others.  I am encouraging each of you to help make a change.  Step up, and step in and find out how you can make a difference.

Thank you,

Susan L Hughes
Rochester President

Here at the Women's Council, we strive to provide timely, accessible programming, great networking and opportunities for your personal and professional growth.
