International Women's Day
March 8th is International Women's Day! This is a day that all of us, as dedicated members of the Women's Council, can rally around. It is a day when women are recognized for their achievements without regard to divisions, whether national, ethnic, linguistic, cultural, economic, or political. International Women’s Day is a time to reflect on progress made, to call for change, and to celebrate acts of courage and determination by ordinary women, who have played an extraordinary role in the history of their countries and communities.The Women's Council has been in existence for over 80 years and has seen extraordinary social change and advancements. Women continue to grow as leaders in the ranks of our industry. Globally, our real estate peers look to our organization as a beacon and example of greater inclusion of women in the industry. Women's Council involvement in global matters has also built momentum over the years. Past President Margo Wheeler was a keynote speaker at a 2013 conference in Uganda, launching a real estate women's group that remains in existence and is thriving today. PMN courses have been offered in far-flung locations, including Mongolia, Peru, and Eastern European countries. Most recently, Women's Council leaders have participated in conferences in Spain, Mexico and Serbia, and countries frequently reach out to ask for assistance and advice on creating women's real estate groups. Most recently in last month's Elevate conference, a practical session called "Fast, Free & Easy Ways to Grow Your Global Business" discussed future trends on mobility patterns and what it means for your referral potential -- your clients' retirement property search may extend well beyond typical locations and they may consider Nicaragua along with Naples, or Panama instead of Phoenix. Our world continues to shrink and business opportunities continue to grow.
But most importantly, International Women's Day is a great opportunity to network and meet peers from around the globe to discuss your business and exchange information. To that end, please join us for an International Women's Day Networking Session on Monday, March 8th at 12:00 pm Central where we will host a Zoom networking hour with our professional counterparts from AMPSI-Spain, a Spain-based organization similar to the Women's Council.
Step outside of your comfort zone, let's network and celebrate International Women's Day together! You will see just how small the world is, and how much we have in common. As with many of our recent events, it's in a Zoom environment, that will flourish into face-to-face relationships in the future. We look forward to seeing you online!
