It’s Your Halftime Show!

by Lori Muller, EXIT Realty Corp., International, President U.S. Organization

It’s your halftime show… what yard line are you on to score a touchdown by year-end?

Remember at the end of last year when you completed that business plan? You set some expectations of where you wanted to be this year both personally and professionally. Well, have you looked at it since then? We are just past the halfway mark of the year, so now is the perfect time to look back on the goals, dreams, ambitions, plans, and resolutions you made for this year.

How many dreams did you fulfill? How many goals are you on track to meet? Are your plans in motion or have you not started yet? Did your New Year’s resolution make it through January? Have you assessed where you are compared to where you want to be by the end of the year? Taking the time now to look at what you have accomplished in the first half of the year will give you an opportunity to tweak and plan how to finish the year with all your targets in place.

Taking the time to plan and anticipate obstacles will put you in a position to be proactive instead of reactive. Look at what has been working for you this year and why it works, then look at how you can apply that to other areas of your business and to your personal goals as well. Remember, if the plan doesn’t work, change the plan but never the goal.

It is time to hold yourself accountable, which is one of the hardest things to do. Or if that hasn’t worked during the first half of the year, hire a coach.  They will hold you accountable and call you out. At the same time, they will push you to stretch and grow beyond what you ever thought was possible, all while building your confidence along the way. Make sure you are surrounding yourself with people who nudge you forward, not backward. Being around the right people with the right habits will always affect you and your business, so choose your circle wisely.

Here are your action steps to finish the year strong:

  1. Re-evaluate your business plan
  2. Mark off the dreams and goals accomplished
  3. Anticipate obstacles so you can pivot
  4. Look at what has worked and apply it to what is left to be achieved
  5. Be accountable
  6. Hire a coach
  7. Adjust your plan but never your goal
  8. Keep your good habits
  9. Slowly adjust the habits that need to be changed
  10. Surround yourself with the right people and company
