This newsletter is intended for 2021 leaders of Women's Council. This important information should be read thoroughly and shared with your local members as needed.
Edition 11 - 2021 | April 6, 2021
Note, this edition of Roadmap is for 2021 network leaders and is being distributed to the six leadership team members who were reported to National.
Network 360 Leadership Conference
During the second half of 2021, Women’s Council National is planning to move back to live meetings. Our first (intended) live meeting will be the Network 360 Leadership Conference. Dates are August 18-20 in Chicago. 2021 President-elects should plan and budget on attending. Please note, this is subject to change but we are intending to hold this meeting live.
Going for a long walk or taking a long drive? Looking to repackage benefits to your members? Women’s Council has 25 podcasts with 500 minutes of programming. New podcasts are added each month. Podcasts are a great way to feature key members and create connectivity during socially distanced times and are another channel to communicate with members.
Encourage your members to subscribe to one of our Podcast channels.
Are You Reaching Out to REALTOR Association Executives?
Did you know that the Women’s Council has 225 members who are REALTOR Association Executives? A proud affiliate of NAR, we encourage networks to reach out and work with your local and state Realtor association. Our attached statement outlines how National works with NAR.
IDEA: contact your local Realtor Association Executive and find out how you can collaborate and/or ask them to do a testimonial like the recent video by Travis Kessler, Texas REALTORS CEO. Many Association Executives have budgets to join organizations like Women’s Council so if you haven’t already, encourage them to become a member, like 200+ other members throughout the country.
States and Election Procedures
NEW! Weighted votes. For many states the weighted vote given to the Local Network Presidents per the State Model is a new process, so please make sure to get your election teams familiar with how it works. The governing board members eligible to vote shall cast one vote with the exception of Local Network Presidents who have a weighted vote based on their Realtor membership as of 12/31/2020. The weighted vote is: 1 vote for the first 30 Realtor members, 2 votes for 31-60 Realtor members, 3 votes for 61-90 Realtor members, and so on. If this doesn’t sound familiar, see page 7 of the State Network Operating Model.
Election of Officers Clerical Error in Article IX: There is a clerical error on the Bylaws that are posted on your State microsites, and this will be corrected as soon as possible, however for the time being we are giving you the information here. In Article IX Election of Officers these Bylaws incorrectly state that “each Active & National Affiliate member may cast 1 vote...” This is incorrect and will be changed. The correct verbiage is “Each Governing Board member may cast one vote with the exception of Local Network Presidents”....You will find the correct verbiage by looking at the Model State Bylaws (see article IX, Election of Officers on page 6).
If you have any questions on these state election questions under the new model, feel free to reach out to Jamie Saltman, Director of Network Engagement, at email@example.com
