February 12, 2019
Kick off 2019 on the "right foot" ;-) with former Detroit Lions kicker Jason Hanson.
Jason Hanson enjoyed a lond and successful 21-year career as the place kicker for the Detroit Lions. From 1992 to 2012 Hanson was the one constant that kept the Lions together during their triumphs and defeats. After a standout career at Washington State University in which he earned consensus All-American honors and a degree in pre-med studies, the Lions drafted him in the second round. During his rookie season in 1992 he earned NFL offensive rookie of the year honors and would go on to earn two Pro-Bowl selections on his way to becoming the NFL's third all-time leading scorer with 2150 points and third all-time kicker with 495 field goals made. Hanson's long list of NFL records include most field goals of more than 40 yards with 189, most consecutive field goals of more than 40 yards with 24, and most field goals of beyond 50 yards made with 52.
Since his career came to an end he has enjoyed spending time with his family and traveling the country to speak at youth events and sports camps that promote self worth and confidence.
