We are eager with anticipation for our Midyear Meeting in Washington, D.C. Along with all of the networking and education, we will also hold business meetings, including the Governing Board meeting on Thursday, May 9th from 3:00 – 4:30 p.m.
We invite all members to read the proposed Bylaws changes below. Please click the blue buttons to view each redline version with proposed changes.:

National Bylaws Itemized Rationale for Changes
- Article II, Section 4: This clearly defines the officers of the Women’s Council of REALTORS® early in the document to avoid any confusion before the definition offered in Article VII.
- Article IV, Section 1C: Switching renewal billing to a prorated amount during the year members join and the full amount thereafter simplifies the business processes and reduces confusion for staff and members.
- Article VII, Section 1: This language clearly defines the officers.
- Article VII, Section 2: The language more clearly defines the role of National Liaisons as elected leaders supporting the Leadership Team.
- Article VII, Section 3F: The language more clearly outlines the role and communication expectations of the National Liaisons.
- Article VII, Section 4: Including “elected positions” clarifies this section to apply to multiple volunteer leadership positions. This also solidifies the best practice of having a process for removal if necessary.
- Article X: Including “other positions” clarifies this section to apply to multiple volunteer leadership positions and aligns with the processes already laid out in Article VIII.
State Bylaws Itemized Rationale for Changes
- Article III, Section 1B: This aligns with the National Bylaws change. Switching renewal billing to a prorated amount during the year members join and the full amount thereafter simplifies the business processes and reduces confusion for staff and members.
Local Bylaws Itemized Rationale for Changes
- Article III. Section 1B: This aligns with the National & State Bylaws change. Switching renewal billing to a prorated amount during the year members join and the full amount thereafter simplifies the business processes and reduces confusion for staff and members.
A special thanks to the Leadership Team for bringing forward these recommendations.
Proposed national bylaws changes will go into effect after they are approved by the NAR Board of Directors on November 14th.
