National Volunteer Month is April

It is with deep gratitude that we extend our heartfelt thanks to every one of our 1,200 volunteer leaders scattered across the country. From organizing events to fostering connections, you embody the spirit of leadership and service that defines the essence of Women’s Council. Thank you, leaders, for your invaluable contributions and for being the driving force behind our shared mission.
National Volunteer Month is not only a great time to thank our volunteer leaders but also to inspire others to join in and make a positive difference through service, whether it’s with Women’s Council or your local communities.
If you need some fresh inspiration for ways to serve your local community, we’ve compiled some volunteer ideas below:
- Soup Kitchen Support: Many local communities rely on soup kitchens to provide meals for those in need. Whether you’re serving food, cleaning up, or simply lending a compassionate ear, your time and efforts can make a big difference in someone’s day.
- Environmental Conservation: If you’re passionate about protecting the planet, there are countless ways to get involved in environmental conservation efforts. Join a local beach/forest cleanup, participate in tree planting initiatives (like our National Forest Foundation team!), or volunteer at a wildlife sanctuary.
- Senior Care: Volunteer opportunities abound in senior care, from leading activities and outings to simply spending quality time with residents. Your companionship and kindness can brighten their days immeasurably.
- Animal Shelters: Animal shelters are always in need of dedicated volunteers to help care for and socialize with their furry residents. Whether you’re walking dogs, playing with cats, or assisting with adoption events, you’ll be making a tangible difference in the lives of animals awaiting their forever homes.
- Disaster Relief: Volunteering with disaster relief organizations allows you to provide vital assistance to those affected, whether it’s distributing supplies, clearing debris, or offering emotional support. Your willingness to lend a helping hand in times of crisis can bring hope and healing to those who need it most. Remember if you’re unable to physically volunteer, NAR has the REALTORS® Relief Foundation that you can donate to!
- Community Gardens: Community gardens provide fresh food and also serve as a vibrant hub for community engagement. Volunteer your time to help plant, tend, and harvest crops, or assist with garden maintenance and programming.
If you’re looking to volunteer within Women’s Council, we recently published an article highlighting ways to serve through the Leadership Identification & Development process.
No matter your interests, skills, or availability, there’s a volunteering opportunity out there that’s perfectly suited for you and a community ready for your impact!
