Dear Valued Members,

Your Governing Board has been having numerous discussions with regard to a merger with SLC. On Friday, a motion was made and passed to move ahead with a potential merger, following a similar motion by the SLC members.

The facts are telling. SLC no longer has a viable council, with only 20 members and a very uncertain future as to nominating a slate of officers. The State WCR leaders have decided, that in lieu of a merger, the council will be disbanded and the funds returned to the state budget.

While this latter action would have little effect on Stuart-Martin, our Board decided that there are many potential benefits for a combined chapter, which we propose would be called Treasure Coast WCR. Affiliates would no longer have to decide between our current chapters, for one. We would become a much stronger organization, and we would no longer have to plan two separate sets of Business Resource Meetings and social functions. And I believe the geographical distinction is becoming less important, as many of us (myself included) are doing more business in St Lucie County.

This is NOT intended to be a “take over” by our organization; it will be a truly collaborative effort. We will work out implementation details with members of both councils. The two that we must address immediately are a combined slate of nominated officers, and a central location to hold our meetings. These are far from insurmountable obstacles. We will continue with our current separate schedules of events for the remainder of 2015.

To allow you, our members, to discuss and vote on this proposal I have called a special meeting on Friday, August 14 at the RAMC auditorium. The meeting will commence at 9:00AM promptly. If you cannot attend, I am asking for your vote by e-mail on the same day. Our District VP Michele Shafer has graciously agreed to attend and will help us facilitate the discussion.

Thank you for all your incredible support during the year.

Bob Castellano

Our new meeting place is the recently remodeled Miles Grant Country Club. Pat Tully, the club manager, and Chef Brian Burger, have gone out of the way to make us feel at home, and the lunches are varied and of the highest quality. They are located at 5101 SE Miles Grant Road, Stuart, Florida 34997.

Our first meeting in January featured Dennis Gianetti, Ninja marketing expert, and accredited real estate trainer. His presentation was enjoyed by everyone, and we will no doubt have him back in the future.

In January, the governing board attended the Mid-Winter realtor meetings in Orlando. The WCR segments covered everything from strategic planning to effective chapter operations. As always, we had many excellent networking opportunities. Pamela Banks from Palm Beach was installed at a gala dinner, and we also went to the awards luncheon, at which I was asked to give the inspiration.

I look forward to our year together. Please don’t hesitate to call me with any ideas, suggestions, or complaints. We’re all in this great organization together!!
