About Me

Margarita Diaz Cavanagh is a Broker Associate/Realtor with Keller Williams St. Johns in St. Augustine, Florida. Born and raised in San Juan, Puerto Rico, she graduated from the University of Puerto Rico, Rio Piedras Campus, with a bachelor’s degree in business administration, major in Marketing and a minor in Human Resources. Margarita moved to the USA 36 years ago and has since lived in California, Maryland, Pennsylvania, and Florida, gaining diverse experiences along the way.

With a career spanning 40 years, Margarita has amassed extensive experience in banking, residential, and commercial lending. She has held various roles, including loan officer, processor, closer, and underwriter in both residential and commercial lending departments. Additionally, she has worked as a Preferred Banker and Banking Center Manager for several large, well-known banks. Seven years ago, after being laid off from her job as a Real Estate Underwriter, Margarita transitioned into a new career as a Residential Real Estate Agent, joining her husband’s team, The Cavanagh Home Team, where they work together as a fully bilingual (English and Spanish) husband and wife team.

Margarita is deeply involved in professional and community organizations. She is the current President of the Women’s Council of Realtors Jacksonville network and serves as the 2024 Communications Vice-Chair at the state level. For the past three years, she has been active in the Northeast Florida Association of Realtors (NEFAR), participating in various councils, task forces, and committees. She currently holds the position of Director at NEFAR and the Florida Realtors Boards and is a member of the Florida Realtors Honor Society.

Margarita has completed several leadership training programs and held numerous leadership positions, including the 2023 Agent Leadership Council (ALC) at Keller Williams Atlantic Partners, Southside; Acting President, Vice President, and Director of Education for the National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals (NAHREP) Jacksonville Chapter. Her outstanding performance has earned her multiple awards, such as the Keller Williams monthly and yearly top producer awards and the 2022 Women’s Council of Realtors Jacksonville Network Member of the Year. Margarita has also received several awards during her tenure at various corporations.

Beyond her professional achievements, Margarita is actively involved in civic activities. She has been a Legacy Team Member at Celebration Church since 2018, a Serve Day Volunteer since 2006, and sponsors three children in Zimbabwe through Celebration Church – OneChild.Org Ministries. She has also volunteered at the Celebration Church Food Pantry and participated in Red Day activities with Keller Williams Atlantic Partners.

Margarita and her husband Eric have been married for 28 years and together for 31 years. They are a blended family with three children and two granddaughters, aged 10 1/2 and 6 years old. In her spare time, Margarita enjoys traveling and spending quality time with her family and friends.
