Unleash Your Community Spirit:

A Week of Meaningful Impact with the Women’s Council of REALTORS®

by Jessica Apostle

A special note from Kerri Hartnett, 2024 National President

I’m excited to announce the formation of the Community Day/Give Back Task Force, aimed at mobilizing our local and state networks to take active roles in their communities. As REALTORS®, our impact extends beyond transactions—we are integral to the fabric of our neighborhoods.

This task force encourages us all to get involved, whether revitalizing a park, organizing a cleanup, collecting clothing and food, or supporting local shelters. Let’s unite to give back and show the world the true spirit of REALTORS® in action.

I look forward to seeing the meaningful contributions you’ll make during our dedicated Helping Hands Community Give Back Week!

_________

October 14-20, ‘Helping Hands Week,’ marks an exciting time for Women’s Council of REALTORS® Networks nationwide. New this year, we are dedicating a week to coming together and executing ways to actively engage with our communities. We want to use this week to raise the bar on community involvement. We’re not just talking about writing a check; we’re challenging you, our nationwide network, to roll up your sleeves, get hands-on, and make a tangible difference in your local communities.

Beyond the Donation: Sweat Equity in Action

What does it mean to give back? For us, it’s more than a financial transaction—it’s about “sweat equity.” We want to see our members out in their neighborhoods, demonstrating that Women’s Council members are not just leaders in real estate but also champions of community involvement. This week is about embodying the true spirit of our commitment to making a positive impact where it matters most—right in our own backyard.

Imagine the difference we can make when we unite our passion, energy, and resources to tackle local issues head-on. Whether it’s organizing a neighborhood cleanup, mentoring youth, or providing hands-on support to local charities, every effort counts. This is your chance to showcase the power of collective action and the heart of our Council.

How to Get Involved

Now is the time to organize! Use September to collectively organize a way for your network to give back to your community! We encourage all of our networks to plan their volunteer time during ‘Helping Hands Week,’ October 14-20.

  • Food banks
  • Animal shelters
  • Ronald McDonald Houses
  • Boys & Girls Clubs
  • Meals on Wheels

The opportunities are truly endless! What is a unique volunteer opportunity for your area? Find out how to get involved as a group and plan it now!

Then, organize your network. Do you need to organize shifts of volunteers in your network? Can their families join in the excitement? Do you need to order t-shirts or hats so your team can recognize each other at a large community event?

We want to hear about it after you’ve volunteered as a network! Please submit a jotform detailing the location of your activity, the marketing efforts you employed, and the number of members who participated. And if you’re feeling extra inspired, we encourage you to submit an optional video capturing the essence of your work.

Recognition at the 2024 National Conference

We know you’ll bring your A-game, and the Community Day Task Force is excited to highlight your efforts by showcasing the best videos at the 2024 National Conference in Boston. This is not only an opportunity to shine a light on your community but also a chance to inspire others with your dedication and creativity.

Let’s come together, get involved, and show the world what it means to be a part of the Women’s Council of REALTORS®. Your commitment to community engagement sets us apart. So, let’s make this week one to remember—one where we didn’t just talk about change, but we made it happen.

_________

Thank you to the dedicated task force members who played an instrumental role in developing our Helping Hands Week. Your commitment, creativity, and passion have made this initiative possible, and we are grateful for your contributions.
