Fort Bend

 Dear Member and Future Member,

“Great leadership usually starts with a willing heart, a positive attitude, and a desire to make a difference” Mac Anderson

A good leader should have a willing heart. Someone who is generous with their time and has a good will to want to serve others first, even when it inconveniences them. It is the leader with a willing heart that is eager to make connections with those around them. By having the willing heart to be a servant to others you can accomplish bigger things for yourself and others than you might have thought possible.

A positive attitude is fundamental in a successful leader. Positivity creates an energy that uplifts those around the person carrying it. While negativity undermines a person’s own efforts and will, it is positivity that gives encouragement to others that they are able to do great things. This encourages a tradition and environment of accomplishment which benefits everyone as we all learn to inspire each other to be the best versions of ourselves because within all of us there is a greater version of ourselves that is possible and sometimes we need a little bit of help to see that.

A Desire to make a difference - Lastly a leader who has the desire to make a difference is a leader that will truly change the lives of others. This is different from the qualities that came before because this quality is far more introspective. To find one's desire to make a difference one must understand themselves and their values. Finding a set of values that one can consider to be of the utmost importance and nonnegotiable. Something that matters the most to them. When you know what it is that matters to yourself then the rest will come easy.

The recipe for great leadership requires these three qualities. A great realtor, like many of you, also requires these qualities. I have seen these three qualities surface throughout my life in preparation for leadership and when I have worked on teams or committees. Working together on teams we all serve as pieces to a puzzle. Together we determine our own success and this is why we must all be capable leaders ourselves to help each other in our shortcomings. I encourage each of you to reflect on this quote and see its own applications within your lives.

It is an honor and a privilege to serve as President for Women's Council of REALTORS® Fort Bend.  The 2021 Board and I look forward to bringing value to our REALTOR® members and Strategic Partners through relevant educational programs and networking events.
